Making “Working Out” – “Pay Out”

A viewer told me that she loves physical fitness so much that she wishes she could find a way to get paid to workout. She doesn’t want to be a trainer, just to workout. Intrigued by this thought I went on a search to find great ways to help make her dreams come true. And, thanks to the team at MillenialMoney I’ve listed them below. Tune into our Spring season of LiftOff with Jeanniey Walden to hear what other fitness experts have to say on this topic.

1. HealthyWage

HealthyWage is an app that lets you invest in your own ability to lose weight. That includes eating right and maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle. (That’s easy enough for me to say — I am currently eating Nutella out of the jar with a spoon.)

If your ultimate physical fitness goal is to lose weight, HealthyWage will challenge you and pay you to hit your goals. All you have to do is enter how much weight you want to lose, how long your weight loss journey should take, and how much money you can invest per month. Then, Healthy Wage will calculate how much of a cash reward you stand to win.

The more weight you want to lose in a shorter period — and the more money you can put down — the more you’ll win. And if you don’t meet your goals, you’ll forfeit the money you’ve wagered.

HealthyWage offers motivational tips and challenges along the way. It’s a fun way to earn money and get motivated to exercise.

2. DietBet and StepBet (I’m trying this one)

DietBet and StepBet encourages weight loss in exchange for rewards. They gamify it! The workout app lets you challenge yourself to meet your goals and win a weekly cash reward. Meet your goals, and you’ll split the pot with other winners.

According to the company, most bets are $40 per person. Games average six weeks at a time, although details vary from game to game.

3. Sweatcoin

Sweatcoin lets you turn steps into a cryptocurrency. This app pays you 0.95 Sweatcoins for every 1,000 outdoor steps you log.

Unfortunately, Sweatcoins don’t have any monetary value. However, you can cash in Sweatcoins for prizes like Amazon gift cards, workout classes, and big-ticket items like iPhones.

If you would rather have extra cash than a gift card, you could exchange vouchers for money through a site like CardCash.

4. Tiktok, Instagram or Youtube

If you have the creator chops to video yourself working out, then you can grow an audience and get paid to have people watch you work out. It’s like Twitch but for fitness.

5. United HealthCare

Believe it or not your company health provider might offer your money to workout. With United HealthCare you can earn $300 for documenting your trips to the gym over a 6 month period. If you aren’t sure if your company offers this, ask your HR or benefits person for other physical fitness information.

6. Rover

Sometimes the best exercise involves our four-legged friends. So why not get paid to put in miles as a dog-walker?

Rover links dog walkers with pet owners across the U.S. and Canada. You can use Rover to find dogs in your area and take them for walks.

The app has a GPS component for real-time tracking and safety and a secure in-app payment system. This mobile app is an ideal side hustle for dog lovers.
